Hitch Question ?

I need a hitch for my car to tow a small U Haul Box trailer, I was looking at a Class 2 hitch, would this be good enough for that type of trailer, Iam going to be moving to Virginia Beach within the next year, What do you guys suggest ?

I found the Reese Hitch for $210 before my discount at work.

I think you would need a class 3 hitch, the opening is a little bigger. Call uhaul and ask. Ask about a temp hitch you can rent. But to tow you had better keep it light, take the tranny out of overdrive. When you call the trailer place they may have some advice /comments for you.

Good luck

i think you should rent a SUV for the day instead of towing with the maxima.

So i should look for a Class III hitch ? because there is none listed for it where i work, only the class 1 & 2 , Ive already added the Tranny cooler and put in a new screen and fluid.

lets see... extra 8 hour trip...screwed maxima....8 hour trip... screwed maxima...8 hour trip...screwed maxima...

I'm not saying that your max will be screwed. But if there is any possibility, I'd opt for the 8 hour trip. If you are hauling a few hundred pounds... no problem. If you are hauling an extra 1000 lbs or more though, you need to make the extra trip.

i have to do this in 3 weeks but my move is a 18hour drive, im getting a class 2 hitch and i am going to get the small trailer, but not that 3 foot high one, the class 2 will pull 2000lbs, you should not be able to get 2000lbs in that trailer, but the tongue weight is only 200 pounds, so i am going to pack the light stuff in the front and the heavy stuff in the rear so that most of the weight is behind the trailer axle and the tongue weight will hopefully be around 200, they rate these things with a good size margain of error for the stupid folks, just like advil, only take 2, yeah rite, 2 wont do crap, so i take 3 or 4 becuase i know the point at which it is a dangerous amount is no where near 2 becuase that would but people at the edge of the envelope, no company does that, so if the tongue weight is around 200 or a little more, i should be ok, if i cant get all my stuff in at less than 200 tounge weight, then im making a second trip of, which adds 54 hours to my move, but in my opinion thats better than driving a bunka$$ uhaul truck for 18 hours towing my car, or messing up my car

We tow dirtbikes with a Ford Expedition regularly and we tow the Expedition with a Turbo diesel Motorhome. All the towing hoodups are diff. ... the idea is to be safe while driving on the highways.

Towing a small trailer with 1 ton is light, but going highway speeds expect that trailer to not only fishtail at points but it will bounce like Tiger if you hit a good bump (bridge transitions). The better trailer you have the better off you will be.

Id rent the biggest truck w/car caddy. Then concentrate on where to stop and eat

I dunno, but i just cant see the danger in hauling some cargo on these cars... i've seen cars with a much smaller engine hitching cruisers and camping material and no problems at all.

Obviously it depends on the cargo, but still, the VQ is damn strong and the transmission should be able to haul a nice load.

what does nissan set as max cargo? I'd check the limit and you should be safe.
