Door HInge problems - Driver's side

So I replaced my front uppper door hinge on driver's side. The old one wore out and the was hitting the stricker..

When I took the old one off it felt loose and the insert had room to play. So i thought the new one would fix the problem for sure.

When I installed the new one, put the fendor and wheel on, lowered the car, opened the door and realized that I made it worse. Now the door hits the stricker even worse. I know I tightened the botls pretty well. All it is is metal on metal, no shims or anything..

Has anyone had this problem and if so what was the fix.. Looks like I have to shim the hinge now.. When I push up on the door, the hinge doesn't look solid tight, likes like is has some movement. Any more torque and the bolt will be stripped...

ANYONE??

How was the lower hindge? I'm having both of mine replaced do to play in the hinges right now. I had play in both hinges so I'm doing both, but generally if one is bad the other will need replacing due to the added stress it must carry, unless you replace the bad hinge very quickly.
