Wont stay running? nor rev past 3K

My brother got this max about a month ago.. for a good price. its a 2000 max GLE with 200K. At first it ran normal but wouldn't let you rev past 3k rpm and kinda slip or not shift! so i thought it might need a Tune up. I sea foamed it, changed spark plugs(NGK plat. of course), and oil. now it wont even stay running, i have to keep cranking it til it gets warm then it will idle. Still run crappy!
I have to barely touch the throttle to drive it.. takes me like 2min to reach 60mph.

Has anyone ever had the same problem? or Know what it might be?

I've owned a couple 4th gens? but never a 5th gen, I've been thinking about taking the Intake manifold(00vi) off but it looks really complicated than the 4th gen. Is there any write-up on that..

Thanks in Advance

If you get it from Dave B, it'll prob run you $80 or so. Easy fix, and as Irish stated, you have a textbook case. slap the new one in, and enjoy.

btw, you probably cannot get them at the local auto parts store, only at a dealer (or DaveB)
