How to pull TCM codes?

Ok, yes I know the answer to this...use a scan tool and get the codes, OR use the key/gas pedal/brake pedal trick. Heres my prob:

I have the 2004 I35 drivetrain, ECU, AT and TCM. My "AT CHECK" light flashes when I first start the car. So, I did try to pull TCM codes using the key/gas/brake pedal procedure to no avail.

Today, I had the codes pulled using a very nice OBD-II scanner a mechanic friend has. He was able to pull the codes for the ECU, but the TCM did not show up in the list. I have pins 12 and 13 connected in my data link connector, but they are noted as being "consult data out" and "consult data in". So, I am wondering if this is data that can only be read by the Consult II that only Nissan techs have?

Anyone successfully pulled codes from their 5.5gen TCM without the Consult II? Or, anyone have the experience that only the Consult can get this data?

My car drives fine. I just get the flashing "AT CHECK" light that goes away after 12 flashes (i think 12) I am pretty sure everything is wired up OK, according to his Scanner, we were able to access all ECU real time data values and everything looks great. I doubt I messed up my TCM connections.

Any ideas?

Yeah, I tried that. Could not get it to work.

I was able to get the ECU to flash ECU codes at me using a similar method.

Sounds like I'll need the dealer to look at it.
