Wheel hp number for stock 02/03 Max 6-speed?

So what are the average wheel horsepower numbers for a stock 02/03 Maxima with 6-speed manual? Nissan claims 255 at the crank, with a 15% loss to the wheels, it's about 216whp. Is that about right? Another question, do the maximas have balance shafts? Can they be removed for extra whp?

The Dyno thread is the place to go for this info. I suggest reading a bit around there for some details.

Cliffs:

5.5 gen 6 spd stock peak WHP is around 202-210.
It is generally accepted that Nissan probably overrated their advertised HP numbers.

So I have to ask since this topic was already made. Do other makers generally overate these numbers from engine output compared to the wheels?

I have a fairly decent post explaining it all from my experience on here and my own personal experience, but I can’t find it , so

Think before you post.

You really need to spend more time items of interest in the 5th gen forum. I too was like you when I bought my 5th gen, I had the urge, and then actually read the stickys and did my research on subjects that I was interested in and have only posted VERY minimally, and those posts are either people hitting my car or items that have not been done yet.

Honda/Acura is fairly accurate, @ that 'relation'. Nissan has been, but for the A33B/L31 Maxima/Altima, not so much.

If you spend some time in the dyno forum, you'll see that a lot of the files posted their show that the A33B actually has more tq than hp, which does make sense. Nissan rated the car 255 hp / 246 lb-ft tq. First off, with the whp numbers on a stock car, that would indicate around a 20% drivetrain loss on a 6 speed. This kind of loss is more common with the AT, and really doesn't make much sense (even though some others would argue the heavier flywheel has something to do with it).

It seems much more likely that when developing the car, Nissan marketed a higher hp # and a lower tq # to offset. It's easier to sell hp than tq, even though it is the torque that makes these cars fun to drive.

ok... i don't quite see what your problem is with my post... i do research on the things i care about.. but if i don't care enough to research it, then i won't.. i don't start pointless threads anymore.. i admit, i've had my share of pointless threads, lol.. but i don't do that anymore.. i have no need to post-*****, so there's nothing wrong with posting a random thought on a subject that's already being discussed

not doubting his contributions, but I am sure we could all go without a couple thousand of those 23+ thousand. Posts like this one come to mind.

Lets do everyone a favor and lock this thread and stop the postwhorin

just because it says mpg in the title doesn't automatically deem it useless.. searching alone could not have answered all of the questions and concerns discussed in the thread

Most of my points are in the all motor and other sub-forum? I mainly stay here and read in some of the other forums. The only reason I post most here is because I have to call out more BS!!! So the noobs don't feel unwelcomed and leave the forum.

Only a guess but I bet over 80% of my posts have been in the 5th gen forum.

He just doesn't see me here that much and thinks I'm in other places but I don't ***** myself out for the .org

Ahh yes, a little over 500 of the good posts in the newb thread. The only place you guys can be considerate. Great job. I don't see Irish running around here postwhoring everything with useless BS posts.

Oh, and I never said you guys don't contribute to anything. Find a post where I did. I can find thousands of posts where you didn't contribute though
