There used to be a guy that made his own STS for the 6spd, he sold them for $65 shipped on the nycmaxima forum, not sure if he still makes them but you may want to check it out. I have this one and it works great, I was going to do the free STS until I saw this guy was clearing his current stock out...If he no longer makes it I would also recommend doing the free STS over spending $150.

the free sts is innocent until proven guilty (not as good/as good as a purchased unit). the free sts gives you the same result as purchased unit, but gives you the opportunity to choose the throw lengths and the shifter position

Here ya go bro... http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....light=free+sts
Buy the ES shifter bushings from cattman to go along with this mod and you'll definitely be pleased.

BTW... don't use a power drill to tap the drilled hole. I broke the tap off in there and had to find a special extractor to remove it. If you turn it by hand you won't be able to break the tap.

the stock location on the 04-06 manual tranny provides a shorter throw than the 02-03. I swapped the tranny in my 02 and I couldn't use the TWM STS because the selector was different on the new tranny and the TWM wouldn't fit without modding by grinding part of it down. If you are able to swap that out for the 04 version, the shift is only slightly longer...maybe 2cm than the TWM STS and the stick position is near stock. hope that helps.

i got in the car and felt out several locations (forward of stock, backward of stock) and picked out what i liked best. it mostly in the middle, but i thought stock was a little too far forward so i placed it further back than stock

thats the good thing about this mod (other than it being free, obviously) In neutral the **** sits right right where it did before. If I wanted it to sit farther back I could have drilled for it to be there.

BTW sooner I could about swear in a previous thread you said that you would have just went with free sts if you hadn't have come across a cheap Watkins STS. Maybe it was Puppet that said that...
