TOPPED OUT my 2002 SE

Last night on the way home I decided to see how fast I could get my car up to. It got up to 130

and wouldn't go past that. It wasn't tach out though, thought I would be able to hit 140. Are they governed? If so is 130 the governor.

How many miles you got on that thing? Please tell me you didn't do that before the break in

Check your tires

If the tires that it came with from the factory are H-rated then you're speed limited by the ECU to 130mph.

Will check them. But I think I have the V rated tires.

Honestly....who cares? 130 is LETHAL. Sure its fun to say you went 140 or 145, but really.....I can't see once situation where over 100 is needed.

ps-The 6sp probably won't be limited. The 5sp 2k-2k1 are touted by nissann as having a top speed of 142ish mph. I'm not sure how the gear ing in the new 6sp is.....wait......6th is taller than the current 5th gear, and 5th is shorter than the current 5th gear......top speed may not increase as you wouldn't be able to hit it in 6th, but 5th might bouce the redline.

Hmm.. odd. I was able to hit 140 mph for a short while just a couple of days ago on a clear stretch of road with no problem.

2500 miles, 1 month old.

What's 140mph feel like jerky.Is the front end getting light?Can you change lanes quickly?How about them brakes,can you stop quick if you had to?Don't be a **** and brag about how fast you can go,what are you 18 years old or something?

I just gave my opinion on how fast i was able to get my 02 at. I was not bragging at all so take it easy will you?

Yes it is jerky at 140 and i'll probably never do it again. Handling is still good at that speed but it's not something i want to do again unless it's absolutely necessary.

And no, i am not 18 years old thank you.

I am pretty sure the 02 6spd's 5th gear redlines at 154mph, so 6th gear would not be needed. BTW 6th gear tops out at 199mph

Well I wonder what would happen if you topped out 5th at 150+ and had 100shot of rice juice and hit 6th gear? Assume you had the intake, y-pipe and cat-back as well as anything else necessary for the rice juice capabilities?

once you get up that high it's tough. i'd say maybe 165-170 tops.

If the top speed is 130mph that puts another check against the max for me. I'm moving to Germany early next year( big

) and really need something exotic to toy with those Bimmers and Audis.

When I was there in 98 with my current Maxima, driving at those speeds was very dependent on the road quality. Fortunately the German roads were built for the speeds, so I got to top her out plenty.

Anyways, long story short, I really hope the 6 speed can top out at 140-150.

the 6-spd is gonna make it to at least 150 it's the auto he was talking about. i think it might have been him because other auto owners have gotten close to 140.
