Throttle Pedal Sticking

I haven't driven my 2001 Maxima SE in a few months. I went to drive it today and noticed that the gas pedal was sticking a little bit. Is there a way to lubricate it so it doesn't stick at all? What may cause this to happen and how do I fix it?

Thanks in advance.

thats very important in helping you with the problem (throttle cable vs drive-by-wire)

ok, thats easier.
1. clean throttle body
2. replace throttle cable (its hard to lubricate them and they arent that expensive)
