beat a 97 firebird 5 speed

Im from Dillon, SC.....small city...but anyway. I was cruisin around in my 2k1 Maxima GLE at around 10:30 PM or so and i saw about a 97-99 Firebird V6 stopped all by himself at a red light, i thought, what the hell ill give it a shot. I pulled beside him, and gave him the look. i just rolled the windows up, killed the OD, dropped into 2nd..and waited for the green. The light hit green, i gunned it, he was hanging pretty good until i hit D, then it was all over.....killed the 5 speed V6 Firebird by at least 2 car lengths before we both slowed up, thats probably my favorite kill. The guy was pretty unhappy losing to me, he followed me home and while i was slowing down to pull in my driveway he blew my doors off.....i guess thats the only way he could ever take a maxima.

Nice kill, but if you really want to get the most out of your auto, next time put it in 1st when you're going from the line. Brake torque to 1500-1800 rpms, and when you get up to around 5900rpms in 1st, move it to 2nd. If you're late, you'll hit the rev limiter, so you might wanna practice a bit, but it's still fairly easy. Keep it in 2nd and shift it into D at around 6300-6400rpms. The tranny shifting itself will shift about 5900 from 1-2, and deprive you of the best part of your powerband as well as around 20hp. Same thing from 2-3. Congrats on your kill and welcome to the .org. Now it's time for some mods.

I dont think it makes a Horse's Patute wheather you move the Auto into 2nd or 1st.

When you floor it, it WILL go damn near to redline before it shifts either way.

I just dont like shift my auto, I know it aint good for it, especially while racing the ****.

Personally, mine won't as well as a # of others, but every max is different.
