G35C Seats going in a 5.5 Gen soon

They are going in soon! Will create a DIY for a 5.5 gen swap, even though it's a bit cold out!

Edit: Installed cushions onto Maxima hardware, still working on DIY and heated seats.

I doubt the Infiniti stitching is going to be removed without looking beat up. How much do those seats weigh?

I'm not gonna bother removing the Infiniti stitching, it's still in the family. Better than saying Chevy or something, haha. The support is amazing, as the seat actually hugs your sides.

I'll try to get a weight soon. I just got them last night from a local G owner.

Tight. Don't think I ever sat in a G. They look like they have good support though. Good luck with the install.

I have and they are nice seats. Should be a good improvement over the stockers.

GL with the install.

Are you going to have to fab brackets or are they a direct replacement?

In for update, I hate the stock seats. Do you know if the wiring plugs are all compatible? or will wire splicing be needed? (for power, heat, airbag)

From my searching and past threads, I will only be using the cushions from the G35 seats. The rails/mechanisms will be from my Maxima seats. The plugs should be a direct fit including for the heating elements.

Nice looking seats man good luck. I would probablly remove the stitching too if it could be done with no ill effects but still not a big deal. You could talk to someone at a apolstry shop they might be able to tell you or remove. But if your not bothered by it then it doesnt really matter.

This is from a 350z seat swap into a 5th gen but should be the same for G35

I am in the process of doing it right now...several issues arise on the 5th gen as far as fitment is concerned...

it takes a lot more work, our seat pans will not work with the 350z cushions...unless you modify them a good deal...at that point you might as well fabricate a seat bracket that will bolt up to our stock floor holes and have holes to bolt in the z seat...(been really busy lately, so I put this project on hold after seeing how difficult and how far off the fitment truly is)...

for the 4th gen's it is a much easier process indeed! if their seat pan holes line up with our floor pan holes, you could get those as well and then bolt the z seat to the seat pan I guess..but then you are talking about buying two sets of seats which is too expensive...

as far as using heated seats...it will work, but the wiring is different..the z seats utilize a unified harness for all functions, heating and power motor (if the z seats you get have both)...where as we have seperate harnesses for each function, heat is one harness, power motor is another, and airbag is yet another...this part is not hard, however, keep in mind something like 75-80% of all Z's were purchased without the side airbag option, so if you have that in your max like I do, you will have to track down something like a 2 or 2.2 ohm resistor to fool your car into thinking they are there so the annoying srs airbag light isn't always flashing at you...

after messing with fabbing my own bracket from supplies at a typical hardware store, the work required was way too much, so instead I went with some cheap aftermarket universal seat brackets made for our seat floor pans...you can find them on ebay if you search for 2000 maxima seat brackets...in which case they are a flat strong surface that bolt to our floor pan in the stock bolt holes and would allow drilling for the 350z holes so you can mount the z seat to it...haven't gotten that far yet...once things get less busy, I will try and finish it up and perhaps do a write-up or take pics...

good luck!

you will have to extend wires since the switches are on the other side of the seats (both inside by the center console)

First off, I will take a lot of pictures of them inside and out, just to show you how the wiring and structures are set up. Not very interesting to the plain eye, they are just seats, but will help with any DIY steps. I'm taking my time to learn each connection and clean up all the interior pieces before going forward. I'll keep you guys updated.

I hope you can sort it out, it would make a nice addition to my car too-assuming I can find the seats at a decent price.

nice, I sat in a g35 and g37 yesterday and I loved the support from those seats. Plus, with perforated leather it will be cooler in the summer.

I also loved the seat from the Audi R8 but heh that's another thing..

I dont think they physically are, but they do feel like it because of the side bolsters. They definately hold you in tighter. They truly make you feel one with the car.

That's what I want to do to my seats now just refoam them with bigger side bolsters. I am not a racecar so I don't want a racing seat. I just want to be better supported.
