ok, i got a 2001 maxima from a friend that had a check engine light from the get go. the car had a 2002 ecu so i wanted to get the right year.

i buy the ecu and when i plug it in, while trying to start the car, the ecu smoked red smoke. im sure its fried. i put the old ecu back in and drove to auto zone. they told me that the cel is idle air control. my friend told me that he already replaced that sensor.

what should my next step be.

VQ35 ECU for a DE-K? Ignoring the fact that the pinouts are completely different (including injectors, coils, MAF, CPS, CKPS)...sure.

But of course those things above aren't really needed for driveability, are they? Of course not.

Taking it to the stealership, have them rape you out the ***.. your car will work...

obviously there is a lack of knowledge needed to fix your car on your end, so you might as well pay someone to do it for you...

 

P0505 = IACV = ECU.

Didn't know they were that different A33 vs A33B.
