Throttle Position Sensor?

Yesterday when i was driving on the highway I went to pass someone. I passed them i was doing about 85 and i let off the gas. Was at 4k and my rpms dropped all the way back down to 1k like the car was idle and when i pressed on the gas it would jerk back up to 4k. I did this twice by accident when i realized what was happening i tried not to let off the gas until i had to until i got home. And the car slipping into neutral. Would that be a throttle position sensor issue?

Sounds more like a slipping tranny and not so much the TPS or APPS, but we'd have to get more details.

sounds like a tranny problem, not the engine.

you must have an 2000 or 2001 because 02 and up has an automatic overdrive so it gets rid of the annoying button.

I always think the O/D on 5.5th is 3rd gear.
4th gear is the O/D gear, O/D means gear ration less than 1.

Yes i have a 2000 just the 02 sensor codes were pulled. I checked the transmission fluid looked fine nice and red and smells like transmission fluid extremely fresh. But it hasn't done that again but when its hot and i drive hard and stop and go it will slip into a neutral state (which i havent had happen since i removed my gab mod and had my cat replaced) until i put it in neutral then back into drive or turn the car off then back on.

mine sometimes drops down to 1k after accelerating but it always picks up speed once i touch the gas...more of a spike downward or a bounce..

they really should have a recall, arent you at 4 now, damn we're tied, i might be going on 5 with my problem... funniest thing is 24k (clint) had his way longer and drive more and just as hard and never had to replace a tranny (guess its the luck of the draw...) or is it ?

100% bad TCM (tranny control module)
common and known problem on here
had to replace mine on my 00...after it wore the tranny out and had to replace that.

I'm having a problem with my car as well. I live in the bahamas and have an 02 SE. When I start it, it just keeps reving really high and when i try to put it in gear it just stalls and shuts off. WTF. I'm so frutrated.

Sorry to pull up a 6 years old forum.

Had a similar problem, but in my 03.
I was driving on the highway in 6th and lost power, car went to idle even though I was flooring it, then 5 seconds later regains power and revs up. Then does the same thing where it idles then regains RPMs.

I put in neutral and revs up to 3k then slightly sluggish.

If I let it idle on the side of the road, will reset in 5-10 minutes then I can drive like normal for the next 30-40 miles, where it happens again.

TPS vs MAF vs fuel pump?
No error codes.

Thanks
