Do you have the stock muffler or aftermarket?

as long as you didn't alter your stock muffler, changing it won't do anything.. the noise is probably coming from the flex pipe.. they've been known to have leaks and make kind of raspy noise on some y-pipes

the stock muffler is a great performer, and any perofrmance gains from an aftrmarket muffler would be minimal.. if you have an aftermarket muffler, try going back to stock and see what that does

it's probably the flex pipe.. especially if you hear the noise coming from directly under you, which is where the y-pipe sits.. i don't know of any way to repair a leaky flex pipe, but i'm sure there is one

Did you do the install yourself. If you did not make solid connections and use the correct new gaskets that can also cause an exhast leak. The Y-Pipe itself should not cause your Maxima to sound that much different.

yeah.. i got it done at maximum tuning where jeff does great work and he put one new gasket in and he said thats all it needed the other were fine. I asked him befor the install and he said it shouldnt make the car much louder at all and its insanely louder.

You can also check for contact with your heat shields.

Does the sound kind of resemble a vibration? This is what happened to mine, as well as numerous other members on here (There have been many posts on this topic).

The "Hangar" on the pipe that sits in the original rubber bushing actually pushed my whole exhaust back & down because it was on too much of an angle away from the y-pipe. This caused a couple of things on my exhaust to vibrate off of heat shields & other things.

It does sound like a crappy flex section (Which Warpspeed are famous for), but this is another thing to consider........

I just did mine last weekend, hate the sound too! Gonna check connections this weekend cause it sounds like a wicked exhaust leak right now. But I may have to go the route of a new flex section or at least wrap it for now. (YES, I KNOW WRAPPING LEADS TO PREMATURE DEGENERATION, but I did the whole y-pipe except flex already and just hope it will last me the next 2-years that I'm gonna have the car)

There's the obvious flex section issue. Also, no aftermarket y-pipe come equal length any more, so I would say that is a problem as well, especially if your catback is not stock.

The hanger can be reshaped, are you sure you don't have a leak somewhere? I have no sound issues with my warpspeed y-pipe. The flex is part of the y-pipe. A muffler shop might be able to weld in a new flex section.

Did you buy this pipe used? If new, Dallas should cover any warranty. Glad you found the problem.
