2K2 Gauges for 2K?!!

Hey Guys!!

Do you guys think that the new gauges for the 2K2 will fit on a 2K max...I love the way the new gauges look and I don't like my black GXE gauges. Also, if you don't think those will work, how hard is it to switch the GXE gauges with the titanium SE gauges of a 2K.

Lemme know what you guys think

It wont work seemlessly, has one major new component which is that trip meter computer thingy. It gives you miles to empty, miles per gallon, all that good stuff.

..

Too bad you can't just swap the Speedometer and Tach. I can't stand the cheesy looking "Mario Bros" Red, Blue, and Grey colors at night.

bummer

so what do you guys think about switching from the 2K GXE gauges to the 2K SE gauges? Do you see anything difficult about this swap? Anybody done it? Lemme know what you think

That for sure will work, the ESM (Electronic Service Manual) does not show different parts for that.

But I think the gauge cluster is gonna cost you some cash, maybe $400 or more.

That's about what I thought

Thanks BigDog,

Have you heard of anyone doing this? should just be a straight swap, right? I hate my local dealer...when I first bought my car, the service guy said to not even think of it...said it would cost over 800 to do...so I forgot about it...now I'm not sure if I should just hold out for some indiglo "rice" gauges or just buy the stock gauges

If your serious, I found some at www.car-part.com .
Enter: 2000 Nissan Maxima or 2001(Some wiring is different though)
Part: Speedometer

They ranged from $95-450

It should be plug&play if you can find one with the same features you have(TCS,auto/manual).

i doubt it will work and here is why

the 2k2 has a digital panel under both the tach and the speedo...the one under the speedo controls functions that we don't have in the 2k's like how many miles until empty etc....its a trip computer (haven't seen a 2k2 but i remember hearing this...correct me if i'm wrong)

it may work but you will have a lcd screen just sitting there not doing anything

Nice I might just buy one to rip apart and modify to see if I can make something different on it.

I assume the 2K and the 2K1 have the same part numbers?
