What did you pay for your max?

Got my 2000.5 SE 5-speed w/ 112K in late January for $5,000. It needed the rear beam axle replaced, as it was bent. I replaced it with a used one for $270, and I put a set of 7-spoke, 17" 350Z wheels on it with almost brand new tires for $460. That was followed by new rear brake pads, new spark plugs, and one new coil. It still needs one O2 sensor for the dreaded P0430 CEL, and I'll be upgrading the front brakes to 2K2 fronts with slotted rotors within the next week. Even with all the work, I still have just over $6K in it, and it's loaded out with black heated leather, Bose, automatic AC, sunroof, dual power seats, and side airbags. It gets a bit over 25 MPG while it pretty much lives 80% of its life in excess of 70 MPH on my 120 mile daily roundtrip commute. Sure it could get better mileage, but what fun would that be?

I bought my loaded 2002 6 spd used 4-5 years ago for $22.5. Afterwards I was constantly hearing complaints about re-sale. From the look of the posts here, I'd say the depreciation has stabilized. I still have folks occasionally ask if I'd like to sale it when they see it's a 6-sp.

2001 Anniversary Edition - $14,000 Canadian
Purchased November 2007, it was about the middle of the pack for what was offered on Autotrader in terms of price. 130k kms, although the exterior and interior were in great condition. So was under the hood as far as I could tell. These US prices make me want to cry though.

Year/Trim of vehicle you bought: 2000 SE 5MT
Year that you bought it: March 2008
Miles on car: 31,500
Price Paid: $8,800
The price was a little high, but I couldn't find another one in the same condition with such low mileage. I bought it from an older woman, who had the car serviced at the dealer regularly. Sorry double post, I didn't notice I already posted in this thread.

i bought my 01 Max SE with 44,000 miles on it 3 weeks ago for 7,300.
Car is clean beyond belief, and other than a broken windshield and a popped tire (which both happend after i baught the car just out of sheer ****ty luck lol) its been amazing.
The smartest way to find a car other than an auction is to do what i did i think. Buy carfax for a month, search maximas with a 1 owner title and clear carfax records, then call them and ask if they are selling. Thats how i found mine, i called and the guy happend to be wanting to sell it, he put it on ebay and i won the auction for 300 over the reserve

You want to talk about price differences & comparisons? Back in 1992 my wife & I bought a brand new Maxima SE, no leather had a sunroof, for $24,000. We bought a brand new 2003 Maxima SE (Titanium Edition),no leather has a sunroof and we paid $24,000. I wonder which one was built better?

Year/Trim of vehicle you bought: 2001 SE AE
Year that you bought it: 2005
Miles on car: 130k km (80k miles)
Price Paid: $12,500
I was 3rd owner. First owner put all highway miles on it and sold it to 2nd owner who was a business contact. 2nd owner put highway miles on it too and sold because was getting company car. Car seemed to have been treated well and hasn't given me any real issues in the 3 years I've had her.
As Sooner said, so many variables at play to make the price range so huge... I'm surprised at how much or little some people are getting their cars for..

Paid 2k after trading in my 2004 Toyota Camry SE with 2.4L DOHC motor and 5 speed manual. The Camry had 80,000kms. The Maxima has 104,000kms.
The only thing I miss about the Toyota is the fuel consumption. It was really economical.. even moreso than when I had my 1999 Acura Integra with 1.8L DOHC.
For a 3.5 DOHC V6, the Maxima is actually not bad on gas as I drive 85% highway.

i bought my car back in the summer of 2006. I purchased a 2001 GLE, with 70,000 miles fully loaded and sunroof. I paid 11,000 after tags, title, and taxes. I got my car from the stealership (so they detailed the entire car, fresh fluids ALL topped off and everything)
car only had a quater tank of gas though, lol......BASTARDS
i think i did ok, seeing as how this was my first CAR PURCHASE, and i was 20 yrs old

Year/Trim of vehicle you bought: 2002 SE
Year that you bought it: 2005
Miles on car: 63k
Price Paid: $13,500 (and they put new tires on it)
And I know this is for another thread, but I'm thinking about selling it now... I put a LOT of mileage on it though, so now it's at 129,200.

Haven't bought mine yet, but i'm pretty sure im going to give 6-6,500 for a "wicked white" (Evo fans will understand) auto 2000 Max with 43k miles. I'm hoping that 6k will do, because it needs new rotors and pads......a manual transmission wouldnt hurt either
All in all, it won't be a bad purchase for a first car...

2002 GLE... I got it new in 3/02 for about 26K, including the 6 year warranty (turned out I didn't need it).
Now I have 28K miles on it and never had a single problem with it, except for an alignment issue I just fixed (see other thread!). I also replaced the BLOSE HU with an Alpine 9881 with motorized faceplate and a PAC unit to retain the steering wheel control.
I wonder what it's worth now?
