MAF again...winter vs summer problem?

Topic has been going on forever...but wanted some problem specific thoughts.
I've gone thru tons of the old threads on this before and put in a new MAF this past summer. So its been six months or so since, didn't do the ECM reprogram at the time. (CAI)

I haven't seen this exact problem, but whenever its cold or cold starts no issues. The other day it was warm here in NY and in the sixties and even cold start the rpm's went down and stalled out. In fact this came up in the fall too once in awhile.

For those with MAF problems before has this type of issue happened to you based on temp? I had this happen with the old MAF before I swapped it out or is this something else altogether? I can always pop out another MAF but I want to figure this out and fix it permanently.

thx

Why do you think it's the MAF? You say this happened with your old MAF, It's been replaced and you still have the same problem. You need to look elsewhere.

Check the engine coolant temp sensor, make sure it's within spec
Cleaning the TB helps with starting issues also.

I would also check the air intake temp sensor or the famous IACV, do a throttle lealern procedure and the other realern procedure.

(IACV could be the problem at this point) but wanted to figure out how is it that cold temps affect the starting vs warmer, we're talking about 45F vs maybe 60F. Its just not that big a difference at that range. This detail is annoying me.

if you have drive by wire and Rpms drop right after startup you might need an idle air volume relearn. Do that first. There were some threads here i think or a dealer will charge you an hour.
What year is it anyways?

My maxima 2000 has exactly the same problem. Before I replaced my MAF the engine was too rough to ride. But now my problem is exactly like the one you have described. If this has been resolved can you share the solution.

Got some info on the web on how to clean the IACV valve. Is it something straight forward that I can try in the dead of the winter.

My friends 2000 GLE runs great until every once i a while it will stall when you come to a stop. Luckily, it will start back up. One night it suddenly started skipping and sputtering. I removed the harness from the MAF, started the car, turned the car off, plugged the harness back in and restarted it, and the car ran smooth again. Its been cutting off for a while now every so often, and were yet to find out whats wrong with it. Any ideas?
