I was wondering if anyone has purchased the JET chip upgrade on a 2001 Nissan Max?? If so what gains did you get and is it compatible with a supercharger? thanks! Skeard!

I have the chip. I have not dynoed my car to see the gains i got, but they were pretty significant above 100mph. I would suggest it.

You pull out the ECU, send it in, get it back and just plug it back in. Car takes about 100 miles to "learn" it's new fuel program, so i suggest during that time drive hard. That's what i did and it feels awesome.

I personally would not recommend jet chips. At the taurus boards, some guy screwed up his car because jetchips sent him the wrong chip or bad code. They show a manual taurus from my year, and none were made!

Since you guys have 5th gen maxima's, I wouldn't recommend a chip. Most of the gain found on chips are from advancing the timing which causues vehicles that take regular fuel to require premium. That is how nissan squeezed 222hp out of the 3.0l engines, they just advanced the timings. The chip might provide increased line pressure for quicker shifts and remove the limiters, but for $400, you can do better mods. If you want to add mods that require ecu reprogramming, you can probably have the chip programmed to handle those mods.

None taken. Thanks for the detailed response.
I could careless if you listen to me or not, but I am just offering my knowledge that jetchip HAS previously SCREWED up. If they work now, then more power to you! But seriously, nissan already advanced the timing for you, I can't think of any other ways that they can get more power out of that.

100 mph? Who the **** drives 100 mph? Need a mod that provides gains for everyday driving below 100 mph.

Car and driver tested 15 of the most populer chips a couple of years ago. The result was, on average manual transmission cars lost something like .8 HP, auto's gained something like 1 HP. The most extreme gain was 2.1 HP I believe, some cars lost several HP too. Tese gains and losses could have been the result of the dyno. After reading that article I would never recommend buying a jet or any other chip. BTW I had a Jet chip in my old 91 Explorer{before I read the article } and the engine started knocking real bad shortly after, I suspect the jet chip was the culprit.

But, to each his own..

Then your not driving your max the way it should be driven.
