Catback w/stock muffler and no y-pipe?

So, what would a Catback get me if I leave the stock muffler on? I was looking at all the past threads about the Greddy EVOlution, but I really don't want to deal with customizing that to fit the muffler due to the rear body skirt which is on my AE's body kit. I was thinking of doing a catback do get a bit of a power boost, but don't know if the muffler will breathe enough to make it worth my while.

Anybody have this setup?

Technically all catbacks come with the muffler, if you stay with the stock muffler, what is the advantage? To me seems like we right back to stock again.

I think your talking about a B-Pipe.

Do the Y-pipe and intake and I think you'll be happy from the modest performance boost. Your car won't be loud (only under heavy throttle will it growl) and your butt will feel a difference.

So BigDogJonX's post is suggesting what I was thinking that putting a B-pipe or entire catback w/out the muffler, sorry, in and leaving the stock muffler might be too restricting to realize any performance gains.

I suppose I could bolt on a Y-pipe and return it if I'm not happy with the noise produced.

Anybody with an AE find a catback system that doesn't need to be modified to fit under the body skirt?

Maybe I could get somebody to build me a custom one. I just don't have the time to work on this.

noise from a y-pipe alone is subtle. Exhaust note gets deeper, but the noise increase is not significant.

Do a OSCAI and Y-pipe and then customize a b-pipe (from stock cat to muffler).
