I've had the sound. If you take the motor cover off behind/underneath the glove box, you will find a piece of foam. I think that foam is used to deaden the sound from the motor. I stuffed the foam back in there and it quieted down.

it's common. even with new blower motor, you still can hear the noise.

it also can be something stucking in the fan. just take the blowemotor out and clean it. don't disconnect the yellow connecter on the glovebox, otherwise you will get a airbag warning light.

well it had crap in there and cleaned it out but still making the noise, so i guess next step would be to get the blower motor cover that nissan sells, which is supposed to deaden the sound?? goes for like 10.00 so i guess worth a try

if it's really making a lot of noise, it's time to get a new one. mine died at 67000miles.

btw: don't try to lubricate that blower motor, things can get worse.

The bearing in my blower motor went bad at about 70k. The motor still worked fine, but the increased resistance burned out the fan speed control. On a manual climate control, this just meant that I could only use the blower at full speed (4). I replaced the resistor for $40 and bought an off-brand blower motor for $150, give or take. (I didn't want to replace the resistor again by leaving the original fan with the bad bearing in the car.) The non-OEM motor blower fit fine, but it was even louder than the stock one. I actually had a hard time hearing people and music over it when turned up to max 'blow'.

An aftermarket blower motor for a 4th gen Maxima or a 96-04 Pathfinder will work on the 5th gen. Do a search it is proven. Lifetime warranty and only $62 shipped. here is a link http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...MEWA:IT&ih=012

I did notice that on the TSB so i will deffinitely save that link, i am picking up the cover that nissan sells ( 10.00) and if that doesnt work I am going to go with that option. funny thing was when i had it out to clean it i hooked it up and turned the fan on and it seemed quiet, but the cavity that it fits in seems like a echo chamber...and also i didnt really notice this problem til i had my radio off, so thats the cheapest fix

My blower motor has excessive end play the cage can move up and down. I got the most noise when it was cold, a few degrees below freezing. The noise I had was real loud like a growling sound.
