Cleared my 5th gen tail lights
I was bored today, so I decided to clear my tails... Pics:
Long story short, it involved alot of time with a dremel, some "frost" diffuser/privacy paint meant for windows from home depot, some plexi glass, and some clear silicone adhesive to put it all back together.
For now I have some white bulbs with red covers from autozone in them, and I'm ordering some red LED bulbs to replace them.
Oh and these were night shots with my camera phone... I might get some better ones tomorrow in daylight with my good camera.

Just because you live in ABC state, have clears and have never been pulled over doesn't make it legal.
Bottom line, federal law says it must reflect red, but if you want to go clear, go for it, just don't say it is legal. NO DEBATING THIS IN THIS THREAD.

Looks a bit wierd, the old clear housing they used to sell look better. I'd say at least clear the sidemarkers, the blacked sidemarkers and tails dont work. I'd say match them if think the tails to match the sidemarkers.

Umm they were not very easy to open, honestly I wouldn't reccomend doing it, instead order some clear ones off ebay for 80 bucks.
BUT, if you are going to open it, use your smallest cutting wheel on the dremel and keep the speed low so you don't melt the plastic. Cut the clear plastic where it glues to the gray plastic about 1/4 inch deep. When you get it open, use a grinder or sanding pad to clean it up before you put it back together.

You should get pics with your lights on. Also, if you decide to keep them i recommend clearing out the third brake light as well and adding clears to all 4 corners...so at least it matches you know. Props for being brave and trying something new.
