Torque steer after axle replacement

I recently had the drivers side drive axle replaced on my 00' SE, along with a new muffler/resonator/cat and rear brakes.

Since, the car pulls wildly to the right under any acceleration, makes a
ton of racket over bumps, and has the wheel cocked to the right when driving straight.

Till this last issue, it handled great with only a FSTB, Goodrich T/A's and
GR-2s all around. My struts and shocks are not 40k old.

I took it back to the "shop" that did the work, and of course, they claim its all perfect and said nothing they did would cause those problems. Right.

It almost feels/sounds like it did when the strut went bad before at 70k, but how could that be caused by exhaust work or a new drive axle ?

I'm baffeld and worn over it. I used to love driving that car, now... not so much.

Any idea will be appreciated

take your car to an alignment shop and have a techician check/adjust the alignment. most tech will recommend you do this any time you've done any work to the front end. in theory, there should be no change to the alignment if only the axle was replaced. hope this helps.

replacing the axle involves unbolting a few things, so something didn't go back the same way it was before...

if you have aftermarket struts and had them change an axle without an alighnment, then you need to get the car re-alighned. Thats the culprit. Sounds like your camber is off.

Thanks for the ideas.
It was my thought as well that something was loose or misplaced, but when it was in the air, I cant see anything, or make anything shake.

For the $49 - a qualified aligngnment shop seems the best next step.

However, the shake and rattles seem to be coming from the(right) opposite side from the work, but the bird squeek noise comes from the left ?

Wonder the kind of damage a dizzy muffler guy may do under there with a carless torch too.

Sux. Other than the muffler, this was a tight little ride at 115k mi.

I'll keep looking and update as info allow...

Cheers!

this is a reason why you NEVER do more than one mod at once....because then you don't know where the problems are coming from..

my suggestion: your exhaust is hitting frame someplace, hence the rattling. Alignment should ALWAYS be redone after spindle/hub/axle/suspension work.....
