I'm going to pull the headlights apart and paint this piece in body color... and leave the cowls around all the lights black.

I second that. Half black, half stock FTW:

To the OP, I'd recommend leaving the headlights black but doing the grille in body color.

The grill is not going body color. Those pics aren't doing it justice imo, it looks really nice/agressive in person. I haven't heard anything but positive feedback from local friends.

I like the way it looks on any colored Maxima to be honest with you, I think it gives the car a more aggressive look (don't ask me why I think that LOL) and on a black car it looks even better.

The headlights look very good my friend. I just blacked out the headlights on my 2000 se on Tuesday. I was scared to do it at first, since I have an old oven and you will set it to 250 and it will spike all the way to 320 then settle down. I ended up using a digital thermonitor to keep an eye on the Temp. I did make a mistake blacking the head light out I acidently rubber off the chrome a bit where the blinker light is. I figure ill fix that some other time.

Yeah that chrome is easy to rub off... I made that mistake in the tail light with some oops trying to get some runaway paint off. It took the paint off... and all the chrome!

Agreed... I've baked mine apart several times now and they are holding up great.

If this is something that you are freaking out about, you would probably also freak out about installing spacers or other simple work on your car.

Either don't do it at all, have someone else do it for you, or learn to work on your car.

Only time you MIGHT have issues with baking the heads is if you have never operated an oven I have opened mine twice using HOUSECOR's instructions.

I'm pretty happy with my 50% tint... I might go down to 35 at some point if my current tint starts peeling.

NO Heat Gun

I agree with Sooner. The oven has proved its self to alot of people. An oven will distribute the heat evenly, while using a heat gun a person could miss some spot and break something when pulling the light apart. Just keep an eye on the oven temp using a thermonitor and it will be alright.

Nah, almost all the tint gives a nasty/brown look when my lights come on at night, and I love the look of those sidemarkers b/c they color match the HIDs so well.

It looks really good, but I agree, maybe you should have done that same color as the body.

The lights look awesome, I plan on blacking out mine too. What type of paint did you use and were you able to clean your lenses?

Well you can use w/e kind of paint you really care for... I used an enamel paint so I could get it done with a couple of thick coats and avoid runs since the surfaces have so many curves.
