I love deer =)

puncture wound in my radiator causing this...

somehow my turn signal shattered on impact...dunno how

so far i'm looking at...new hood, new bumper, radiator fix/replacement depending on what the insurance company says tomorrow.

The car runs fine but until I figure out a way to prevent coolant from splattering all over the place she's not going anywhere. Thank god the airbags didn't deploy or I woulda been forked...

Anyone else go through this kind of front damage? Anything else I might want to look for?

^actually i'm perfectly fine, no whiplash or anything...it was one of those situations where i'm coming home late, very dark road, and a deer decides to play frogger with me only to lose...*sigh*

At the speed I was going (around 60, limit 65) breaking could only do so much for me...the roads were a lil slick as well from the slight drizzle/misting

my headlight seems perfectly fine, no cracks/scratches or anything. Everything works. It was just weird how my turn signal bulb shattered. But I'll see what the insurance company says so I can really know what's going on.

Yikes. I live in an area where there are deer at all times of the year. Have seen many people go thru the same thing. Been lucky so far though...good luck!

The exact same thing happened to me. My car was totaled but my air bags deployed.

Congratulations on not having to replace thousands of dollars worth safety equipment, but I'm caught wondering why they didnt activate. The force of impact should have been plenty to activate the bags. I think you should investigate that.

You need a new one anyway; all of the upper mounting tabs broke off.

Hood, bumper, RH headlight assy, radiator support, front plate mount (if your state requires them, I see you already have one on there).

A lot of this is guesswork that you can't see until it's taken apart, and obviously you won't be going all dealer parts so it'll be a lot cheaper for you, but here's a quick rundown:

Good news is, the license plate bracket is available, heh. Courtesy's showing none of those available.

glad your okay. it would of sucked if the air bags did deploy. seen a lot of people bruised up and worse just b/c of the air bags. sometimes i wish i didn't even them, but then again, they do save lives...

Oh and as for the deer...after it barrel rolled back into the trees I couldn't see if it was alright. It was still very dark and I've heard a story or two of people getting attacked by deer in the same situation (revenge? lol) so I didn't want to get too close. Also, it took me a few seconds to get out of the car cause I was somewhat in a state of shock so I don't know if it got up and ran off in that time.

Ugh...this was on the Parkway btw.

I wondered that myself, but maybe since I actually got to brake somewhat before impact the airbags didn't trigger? I dunno.

looks like the "energy absorber" shouldnt be damaged and the bumper reinforcement shouldnt need to be replaced also

The ins. co will definitly put the bumper reinforcment on the appraisal, I think it's mandatory when there is any damage to the cover, safety thing.

As for airbags, they shouldn't have deployed, because they weren't needed and could have potentially done more damage. To the guy that had his go off, your hit must have been alot harder, maybe not the damage but it's all in the hit and how quick it stops car, there's no sensors asides from the G-meter.

Wow looks like a hard impact. All your headlight brackets broke. Looks like the deer jumped too because all of the damage looks pretty high up. The bumper doesn't look damaged.

****, sorry man that sucks. if the deer survived that would have just been embarrasing considering the damage the car took.

Sorry 'bout your damage. I hit a deer in my 240SX when I was going in to work on the morning before Thanksgiving this past year. It pretty well destroyed my front bumper, but that's all. I hope insurance does you right.

Glad you're Okay, how's the deer. Always a bummer to see this, I drive in a densly populated deer area and have always been surprised I have only had a few close calls, never a real run in. good luck getting things back to normal.

Yikes! I am kind of suprised your damage isn't too bad considering the speed and large animal. Glad you're alright.

If insurance gives you a nice check...look into 5.5 headlights $2000 is about right for the damage not including paint or labor. For me it was about $3500 total.

Also call up DAVEB, that is what I did since I wanted Nissan parts saved maybe $300.
