5th gen maf orientation?

Does it matter if a 5th gen maf is rotated at all? I switched up my intake and mounted the maf so the FLOW -> is facing upwards. I went for a test drive and I get a p0100. Now the car runs kinda wierd, but will go all the way to redline.

Do you guys think having it rotated is screwing it up?

I don't see why that would matter. Are you sure you didn't turn the key to the "ON" position with the MAF disconnected?

of couse it matters, the MAF should always againsts the flow of air, not the same direction...

Nope, definetly didn't do it. I've already done it once

All I did was rotate it 90 degrees on the couplers, not switch it around or anything.

Yes, I know and have it set up properly. Again, I ROTATED IT IN THE COUPLERS not flipped it around.

it does matter which way it is rotated. The harness should be pointing up, unless you have tuned with a piggy back.

its been stated in a few other threads (not sure if it was here though)where people's maf's would act funny if it was on its "side"

I would, but I had to put it back because the maf couldn't sit properly. I was doing something similar to greymax using the stock intake box. Now I just have a tb->3"->maf->cone filter nothing really special at all.

The clocking of the sensor has been said to affect AFR, but not to the point of affecting performance, which in your case seems quite drastic.

I might first guess would be that you have an intake leak somewhere in between the MAF and TB. A pic of your currents et-up would also help. Also, are you still using your PCV tube in between the MAF and TB?

Nah, I only have one vacuum line before the throttle body and its for that stupid boost sensor.

Let me guess.....the pcv tube is crucial huh?

EDIT: Another thing, when I just let my car idle it will eventually die (like 50% of the time). I wish I had a picture, but its a very simple setup.

THROTTLE BODY-----Vacuum for boost sensor--------maf--------cone filter

It has a 45deg bend between the maf and tb and puts the cone right where the battery should be. I also did away with the "wedge"/silencer that was between the filter box and the tb.

The PCV tube, if not connected, causes a lean idle condition, which then turns into a 'rough' idle. It shouldn't affect WOT performance though. Try getting it back into the mix and see if it helps.
