MAF Installation Questions
MAF Installation Questions
I am getting noticeable hesitation on a 2K SE with 90000 miles on it.
I am planning to change the MAF, and was looking at it to see how to remove the old one.
I tried to remove the plug harness and couldn't pull it off. The plug had a green tab with an arrow on it. I moved the tab in the direction on the arrow and still could not pull it off. I stopped because I don't want to break it. Can someone tell me how the plug comes off?
The other thing I noticed is that one of the MAF bolts is inaccessible to a wrench or socket. Is there a writeup on how to replace the MAF?
I couldn't find a writeup for the MAF replacement in the stickies.
Thanks.

You need the temper-proof torx key which you can find them at your local auto stores, Sears, and Home Depot. I picked up a set of 8 sizes (T15-T45) at Autozone for about $6. You need T20 if I remember correctly.
make sure the plug is free of dirt and debre, pless on the green tab all the way down and lift the plugg at the same time. sometimes you have to wiggle the plugg to get it loose.
Try cleaning the MAF sensor with CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner first. I was getting a slight hesitation/bog around 2500 rpm within a couple days after putting in a K&N panel filter, so I sprayed down the MAF sensor and screen with the cleaner and the hesitation was completely gone and hasn't returned.
yeah i had that exact same problem when i installed the berk intake yesterday. remove that whole portion and put a flat head screw driver and just slightly nudge it upwards while using your hand to pull the plug out pressing down the green tab at the same time. it'll take some force but becareful not to break anything, if u have the MAF out of the car it makes it alot easier
