Clifford's Solaris G4 computer programmable models DO support remote start with manual transmissions. I just had mine installed on my automagic 3 weeks or so ago and the owner's manual specifically states that it is usable on manual transmissioned vehicles.....

What do you have to do to your stock immobilizer to start it remotely? Did the guys who installed alarm took one of your stock keys and hided somewhere in the car or they managed to somehow override ECU in order to give you ability to start it remotely? I'd really appreciate any related info.

Mike.

You got it right Mike, they use one of your stock keys and hide it under the dash somewhere plugged in to the Immobilizer bypass unit....didn't bother me too much 'cause I got a 3rd key free from the dealer when I bought my Max.....but it is something to remember.

Sorry partner, but I had our local car stereo shop install mine so I have no clue how its done. I just know they told me up front that one key would be forever lost because it must remain plugged into the bypass unit for the remote start to work....Check with any local car stereo shop that is an authorized Clifford dealer and they should be able to help you....for a price of course!

I did it with my 88 Escort. No big loss there, but was fun to chase down the street when I left it in gear! Be sure and buy the correct model for the manual trans guys!

There are companies which make special "bypass" unit - it literaly extends the range of immobilizer antenna to the place where you put one of your stock keys. The idea is to give immobilizer impression that it talks to the stock key. Our cars have immobilizer which uses encryption when it talks to the key's chip, so it's quite difficult to actually "bypass" that without using one of the stock keys.

my 2c, Mike.
