Water pump weep hole

I am loosing ever so little coolant and went about checking for the water pump weep hole. I seached the forums and this is what I have gathered. If the pump leaks or the seals are worn, the weep is routed to between the compressor bolts and the oil pan. I didn't see any visible leaks but then it is wet out there with dirt residue. Don't know if that was a coolant that caught the dirt or the engine oil. I spayed brake cleaner and will watch it moving forward.

Now coming back to the weep hole, where is it. I looked 5" below the where the pump cover is located and could not find it. There is a bolt mouted to the block right below the tensioner and pump cover (looks like a 10mm bolt) which looks like the water pump drain bolt and right above this bolt there is a threaded bolt from the inside out.

Any suggestions will help.

Your first paragrah states that you found where the water pump leakage is supposed to drain, but your second asks where it is. Unless you're looking for the weep hole proper, in which case you'd have to remove the pump to see it.

This comes up every so often........there is a weep hole supposedly above the upper oil pan at the splitline of the timing chain rear case and the block. I have never actually seen it yet but because of the location of the coolant pump I expect it to be closer to the "front" of the block. Changing the coolant pump I imagine is a PITA on our cars.

There is another thread on water pump on the 4th gen and towards the end of this thread there is a picture where the weep hole from the pump and the pump housing meet (u have to zoom in to locate the one on the water pump housing).

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=562411

I gather looking at the picture the leak will happen below the pump cover.

When the weep hole leaks its def. noticable when the water leaks down from the backside of the compressor. Check hoses and your radiator.

The radiator and upper and lower hoses are new. The overflow tubing is all screwed up and I am going to replace it, I trimmed the 2 ends at around 100K miles but then I must have replaced it when I did the others along with the clamps. I haven't looked into the heater hoses etc...

I have a very small leak. The leak looks like oil and grime not coolant. It coming from the passenger side lower between the engine and the belts. Is this were the water pump is. Can a small leak like this not make for a good pressure seal and cause the car to run hotter than normal.
