Engine slugging on 2000 maxima

My friend has a 2000 maxima and his car is running bad. The engine slugs alot and it feels like either the fuel injection is dirty or the throttle bottle is bad.

I also think maybe water got into the engine, I had the problem with my old integra.

Anyone have any idea what we should check for when he gets over here?

where in the rpm range does it bog down? Could be MAF, depending on that.

dips down to .5 maybe lower, struggles all the time when driving. Like a spark plug is misfiring or something.

I replaced my MAF back in march. It would dip down to 500rpms and lower, come back up, dip back down. Usually happened when i was idling coming up to a stoplight in neutral. I also had a bog between 3&4krpms. for codes

Doesn't the check engine light generally mean there is a code? Have you taken it to autozone (or similar) to get the code read?

Find out what the code is, enter it into the search box and profit. Always saves me the time of making a thread and then waiting until someone answers the question or until sooner makes some smart aleck comment.

Got a P0455 code right before I was leaving on a long road trip. Typed "P0455" into search and it pulled up 5 pages of threads. Likely cause? Gas cap. Took it off, put it back on, cleared the code and it hasn't come back in the last 2500 miles.
