Blew an O2, is an O2 simulator the way to go?

My check engine light went off, and i got the code pulled. It was rear bank
O2 sensor. I think i am going to keep blowing it, so is it better to get an O2 simulator? also where would be the best place to get one, and how much do they usually run compared to a regular O2 sensor?

Thanks in advance

NO. Simulators are stop gap arrangements.. Eventually you will get the heater code and that is not fixed via a simulator. Good luck with sims...

IF the light went off you wouldn't have codes right?

Why not fix the problem? If the sensor is failing multiple times that might mean there is another problem. I'd start there.

you didnt "blow" a sensor...it just wore out...they are wear items.

why dont you just fix the problem the right way

sims are needed when the air/fuel is different because of a mod (headers)...in this situation, the sensors will wear out quicker.

if this doesnt apply to you, you dont need a sim...do it the correct way and get the sensor

they do....they determine if there are excess emissions because the car is running rich...the ECU then changes the mixture

You'll pay to modify your entire airflow system, but you'll cheap out on replacing an O2 sensor that will optimize your vehicles performance? :

1.) Do not sim. your primaries.
2.) A33B's do not need sims for the secondaries, even with headers. Just add a bung so that you do not have to extend the wires, and you'll be ok.

Threaded hole in the exhaust stream (header / b-pipe) which accommodates an O2 sensor and its thread.

I really wish i knew this. I followed the headers thread on top of the 5th gen forum. It did mention to get some bungs made, but that you needed to extend the wires cause it would have to be by the Bpipe.

Yes, this is a new 'discovery', as I have noted this with myself and another member w/ headers.

If you have 80K on the motor you are better off replacing all the sensors and moving on. 2K maxima's coils were faulty from the get go, they fouled up the sensors pretty fast on my car. Replaced coils at 60K and sensors a little later (bought the 4 from www.ngk.com) and now I have close to 150K on the motor. No codes, no nothing, the vehicle drives like a charm.

BTW, once you hit 80K you should replace the O2s even if they don't throw codes. With gas at $4.39/G you are better of not have a lazy sensor doing nothing to improve F/A ratio. I bet one will recover the cost of the sensors by driving at around 70MPH with better MPG.

An O2 sensor is a wear item, just fix it correctly by replacing it and be done with it.
