$299 CDN Admin fee is right?

Just bought a 6-spd SE and my dealer (Alta Nissan in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada) pulled a fast one on me. After we agreed on a final “on the road price” and he took my deposit, he presented an invoice with a $299 Admin fee excluded from the negotiated price. What a scammer, I refused to pay but he didn’t budge just added some free wheel locks. Given that I negotiated a good deal, I gave in but I will not buy there again. Other dealers charge only $100 anyway, right?

I think he was just trying to scam you. Also other TO members (ohboiya, fivelitrekiller, costcowholesale, etc..) of this board will tell you to stay away from Alta Nissan...

Apparently they have scammed others too.

Then you SHOULD NOT pay that fee.

Do you have the car yet?
If you don't, you should call them back (monday) and tell them that you want to cancel the deal because of that fee.

See what they have to say about that!

That's Crap

There is no way they should be able to do that. I don't know if there is a web site but contact TADA (Toronto Automobile Dealers Association), most suburban dealers are members. They have a code of conduct. I can't believe that stuff is tolerated.

Fees

I am doing a lease and the car is on its way. Now I am wondering if I can do a better deal. Beside the price of the car, I have a $55 Registration Fee, $266 initial fees, $74.27 initial taxes, and $350 for finance fee.

Here is the price I got. Basically they took the PDI ($966) off, which brings the price before tax to $36900 for the SE with leather.
I read you guys in the east getting $34xxx. Of course the tax is lower here in Alberta but I am contemplating negotiating for a better deal.
