Infamous Soft Brake Pedal?

I have read a few of the threads regarding soft brake and everyone seems to say swap pads and rotors and do a flush.... Well, we've done that. While the front grab nicely, the entire feel is still soft and the car feels like the fronts are the only thing working. I am NOT new to cars and I am not some young kid that doesn't know much.

My question is, has anyone really checked into the rear calipers on the these cars.I know that with the S chassis, the rear single piston caliper is a piece of crap and quite often need replaced or rebuilt. Could this be the same for our Maxima/I35's?? I know that the calipers look VERY similar to an S14 in the rear? It doesn't show signs of a leak or anything, but I do know that the right rear did not want to disengage when removing it to do the pads...

Are the brakes still soft after you pump them once?

Yeah, even after a pump it doesn't feel stiff. We bleed the brakes three times until clean fluid came out each time.....

were the brakes always like that ever since you had the car? or did it just develop?
some stainless steel brake lines might do the trick if bleeding didn't work.. SS brake lines are supposed to give the pedal a more firm feel.. nonetheless, the problem shouldn't be there in the first place though...

^ WHere in Philly are you? I am coming there for work Tuesday-Thursday. Any place to stay in the city for cheap??

Bought the car about three weeks ago. The Stainless lines should help, but I am starting to think that I just need to replace the rear caliper. It doesn't have any signs of BMC being bad... This works on S chassis so I may try it in this case too.

Just upgrade the pads to Akebono's all around and EBC slotted rotors up front.

i just got akebonos too, and they worked well for me... i live in west philly.. as far as places to stay, my advice is to go on one of those cheap hotel booking sites.. they usually give pretty good deals.. i've never really stayed at a hotel in philly since i live here, so i don't know what the prices are like

just wondering, how can you differentiate the feeling between the front and rear brakes? i've never felt that i could tell the difference as to which axle was doing what in terms of braking

Well,1) when coasting at about 5MPH the car hardly slows when you step on the Ebrake. 2) It just has a "feel". I'm not a huge track guy (yet) and I don't run some pure race car, but I've done enough spirited driving to become more aware of my brake feel than I ever used to.
