NEW '03 MAXIMA OWNER NEEDS HELP!!!
So I bought a new car on Tuesday... a 2003 Nissan Maxima GLE. I love the car, looks great inside and out. I got it inspected at Midas for $50 and two things were issues. Apparently the car had new brake pads put on it before it was traded into the dealer i bought it from, and they were installed incorrectly. Midas says I also need new rotors. Another issue was the transmission fluid was dirty....
So I was driving to the gym yesterday and all of a sudden this light comes on that says, "Service Engine Soon". Is this something I should be concerned about??? What does it mean? I just bought the car and now it seems there could be something wrong with it... HELP!!!

flush the tranny fluid.
check your gas tank cap, see if it's closed. or go to autozone having the codes pulled.
congreats for the new car and welcome to our community.

In order to find out why the SES light is on, you will need to pull a code which is done using an OBD II Reader. There should be some places around you where you can get it done. Once you know the code, you can figure out what exactly the problem is.

You can do it on your own too.

Is it hard to do? I wonder if I can even trust Midas to take my car there to get the brakes fixed... it's wierd they seem perfectly fine. The guy at Midas told me it's something I need to get fixed ASAP, but i'm dead broke after buying the car
