PR CAI Install: Electrical Issue

I recently got my hands on a rare rare PR CAI from a fellow orger and did the install today. It went as expected with the usual pain points but I was surprised to find my car wouldn't start after finishing up. From what I can tell it seems to be an electrical issue. I say that because when I turn the ignition to ACC everything is fine but I proceed to the final turn to start the car the dash lights fade and the car loses power (short circuit somewhere). No fuses are blown, as once this happens I can repeat it by take the neg of the battery and putting it back on. very very strange.

Any thoughts, my guess is something got out of whack when trying to maneuver around the fuse box and wiring as I was drilling the hole.

can't think of anything.

btw, sorry I never got back to you...it was a busy week. I did, however, look for the template and couldn't find it. Sounds like you found one or improv'd.

Look near your newly drilled hole you'll find the answer!

After messing around with the wiring today, including looking at each wire under the fuse box I think I may have found the solution. Unfortunately only time will tell if I've really nailed it, so the max is somewhat unreliable.

I think it may have been a bad ground connection at the ground point right behind the battery. I removed the ground point sanded the connection a little bit and the car started up about three or four times. I even did a quick drive out to home depot with no issues.

Sounds like when I swapped a 455 into a Cutlass I had. Everything went real smooth, hooked everything up, checked all the bolts, etc. Get it to start it, turn the key and....nothing. No click, no lights, nada. By then I had to go to work (graveyard when I was an assistant manager for a Jack in the Box) so I go in, all depressed about my car. Next morning, I get home, and start poking around. Everything looks good topside. Get underneath and I see a single dangling wire-the ground wire for the starter. Attached it and the car started immediately.

It is always the simple stuff that trips you up, isn't it?
