2001 MAXIMA AUTOMATIC STALLING AND ROUGH IDLE

HEY ALL,

BEEN A WHILE SINCE I'VE POSTED SOMETHING UP HERE BUT HERE IT GOES.

I'VE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY 2001 MAXIMA AUTOMATIC.
CAR HAS BEEN STALLING WHEN IN PARK, NEUTRAL AND NOW IT'S STALLING WHILE IN DRIVE. HAD THE ENTIRE THROTTLE BODY CLEANED, REPLACED THE GAS FILTER, CHANGED MY ALT.

I NEVER HAD THE CAR STALL ON ME IN DRIVE INTILL ABOUT 2 OR 3 DAYS AGO IT HAPPENED AT A RED LIGHT.
THE CAR IS ALSO CHOKING WHILE I'M SLOWING DOWN TO COME TO A STOP AND GIVES A ROUGH IDLE.

ANY IDEAS??

How can I find out if the IACV is shot? Anyone know of any ways to determine if this is the case?

To confirm if the IAACV is bad you have to check the voltage between the harness pins and the ECU. Download the Maxima FSM and it will give you the procedure. Its not very difficult to do.

Thanks I'll look into that as well.

But I have a question , anyone know if this could be caused by an electrical short of some kind in the car? I do have a system in my car and for some reason even with my cap my lights dim both inside and outside on the car and the volume isn't up high either. As well when I have my GPS plugged into my front cig socket I can tell that the car is lag in power and starts to hesitate more and become more likely to turn off on me...

Any ideas on this theory ??

Well depending on how large your system is you could be putting a huge drain on your battery but that wouldnt cause your car to stall, its just going to kill your battery over time, i suggest upgrading to an Optima battery, probably in your case , the red top , but i got a system in my car with 2 amps and dual voice coiled subs and my lights dont dim even without a cap....

Well I have had problems with battery in the past where I've need to get a jump to start the car. I already changed the Alternator on the car as well as my Starter in that last 3 months. I wouldn't say my system is that big to cause such a huge drain its one amp thats 2000 watts and 2 rockford subs with a 5 Farad Cap. The battery is fairly new changed in 2006/07 with a ACDelco Battery. But I might try your suggestion and try the Optima battery. I'm sure this will help with the dim lights and stuff but I know it won't do nething for the stalling of the car while in drive or idling in park or neutral. I'm stumped on what is going on here. I'm thinking of maybe trying to change out the MAF sensor see if it does nething.

Oh and btw I don't have any CEL or SES popping up on my dash. Car says everything is fine. My mechanic told me it could be a transmission valve? or something like that but that cost money and it needs to be done by a transmission expert.

stalling could be cause my numerous different things, ive owned cars in the past where it was just a simple spark plug change in cylinder 1. Although, it was an american vehicle versus a nissan, it should still all have the same applicable troubleshooting, check your plugs, sensors, clogged cats of do that also (had a cavalier that did that to me).

Interesting thing I found out yesterday was my car won't stall or suffocate or hesitate while either in drive/park/or neutral if I keep my AC on front defrost. Seems that if the fans are working the car will not shut off or anything.

Anyone have any thoughts about this? And why would the having the AC on keep my car from Stalling or having the RPMs drop below 500?
