Exhaust Rattle Wallet Ouch!!
Guys,
I got a 2000 cali emissions max with 165K on her. She is totally stock with the exception of the muffler that was just replaced. The problem came after the exhaust started rattling. Apparently the resonater with heat shield is rusted through, and the flux capacitors bolts are rusted, yada yada yada. The shop (not stealership) is telling me that they need the entire part from (not including) the new muffler up to and including the y pipe. They ran the part through their computer and it is only sold as 1 piece costing about 1200 for the part. What do you guys think. I live in PA and have to deal with emissions testing and inspection, but know nothing about this. If you could provide any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.
thanks,
g

Hell that resonator pipe is under $100 at advaned auto parts, the muffler is under $100 also. The Ypipe with the cats is pricey though, around $600 from there, My flex section rotted out, went to a local garage, welded in a new flex section for $150 , looks oem.
