Illuminas/S-Techs installed.

Before:

After:

What do you think? In the next couple of weeks I am going to be ordering some 19's for it. This is by far the longest I have ever owned a vehicle and kept it stock, time to start doing things to it.

I usually don't ever let them get that bad, haha, I'll get right on that.

So far so good, like I've said the whole time it couldn't be worse than my stock suspension with 163K on it... I was right, I'm happy with it.

Haha... yeah, it just so happened that I had today off of work, so everything worked out. Same color so it gave me a real good idea what the car was going to look like whenever they got installed. I really like your wheels too, but I'm not gonna copy you on that one, lol. The wheels I am thinking about getting are G35 Coupe type wheels... with a 2.5" lip.

Haven't really driven it enough to say either way... but the car deffinately hugs the road a lot better and has virtually no body roll in corners. It is "stiff" and yet it is still a better ride than my car had prior to this. But like I said, my stock suspension had 163K on it.

oooohhh my. If you put some 19s on it you better make sure they are good quality. With those springs if you hit a nice hole with 19s is't gonna bend it quickly. Rubber pands don't do much for buffering bumps and those springs are pretty much on the bump stops anyway. To be honest, I would suggest some 18s, something with a little more tire. Like a 225/45/18 or something... Just my .02.
I had that set up (s-tech and 19s) and man it was rough. You feel everything on the road. I believe I had 245/35/19 on the front and 275/30/19 on the rear. It took corners like a bat outa hell but it was terrible to go down the highway. Have fune with it either way. It looks great!

I would bet that a setting of two on the illumina's would be a nice ride still..I have them on my Probe and 2 is basically one setting higher than what stock felt like. Granted on the Probe it is a stiffer ride to begin with, but I would guess that a setting of 2 would give you a stiffer ride than stock but minimally..

I just set everything to 5/5 and I love it like that so far. I believe they were set to 3/4ish when I put them on the car and setting them to 5/5 from there wasn't that much a difference in the ride but it handles better. I guess I'll really find out about the ride whenever I really get in it and drive.

It doesn't matter what strut setting it is. With S-Techs the ride sucks anyway. Seems he is happy with it so efit... Glad you like it man

wow...i always heard good things about stechs until this thread...i guess stechs dont respond well to large diameter wheels. i'm in the search for a stock feeling ride, and was told, stechs are the way to go, besides megan coilovers....

Def. not. I have the h-techs and they aren't bad at all. I like them a lot compared to the s-tech.

The s-techs alwasy *look* nice, but are generally considered to be one of the worst-riding, worst-handling springs out there. Prepare for some serious bump steer....Also I hope you enjoy riding on the bumpstops, because s-techs are way too soft for the small amount of travel they have...you'll bottom out ALOT, even with your illuminas on "5"...

I would make a change to Eibachs, personally...

I have Eibachs on my Z28 and love them, I'll give these a go around and then decide from there what I want to do. I did a lot of driving today and so far I have no complaints.

what is your exact setup, and where'd you get it from? I'm looking I drop my max to about the same height as yours and was also wondering how much it cost

i'm starting to come to a realization after driving my car now for a couple weeks and reading through this thread.
I have Tokikos Illuminas with the S-Techs. The car originally had 19"s on them, but they were way too harsh for daily driving, and the Illuminas were set on 3.
I picked up some 18" Z wheels off Weeble, and that improved the ride a bit, but the car was bouncing around whenever you went over a bump.
So I stiffened up to 5 so it doesn't bounce around too much anymore. I would like a ride that won't kill me and won't bottom out these tokikos.

So it's lookin like the H&R springs are the better choice by this thread. I may have to do that.

My MINI cooper rides smoother than my max. And I thought that was a bad ride. Now I look forward to driving it more.
