Valve cover gasket, revisited

Hi all,

Just did my plugs, and like others here I found oil in one of the rear plug cavities. Naturally I got on the .ORG to get the scoop. So, I want to clarify what I learned before purchasing...

So, I have an 03 3.5 SE 6 speed. I saw different posts about whether or not the 3.5 has separate spark plug tube seals, and then saw that maybe I should buy the 04 gaskets, but then again, I saw someone say that they bought the entire 04 valve cover, so.....What's the bottom line?

If I only want to repair what I have (an oil leak into a plug cavity at the rear cover), do I want the 03 gasket or the 04 gasket? Do I need plug seals or don't they exist? Do I want to replace the valve cover with one from an 04?

Sorry to go on, but I want to do this right (since taking the intake off is such a pain).

Also, is it difficult to remove the rear valve cover itself? Any write ups? I got the intake off with no problems, and to ME the removal of the rear cover looks like about 10 bolts, a few wire harness holders, and then it's out...am I over-simplifying, or is that about it?

Thanks,

Jack

If you still have info on the valve cover itself (parts, etc.), I'd be happy to hear it!

Anyone?

Spark plug tube seals are integrated into the valve cover.

Replace the valve cover.

Whichever year will work, A34 is the cheapest though.
