Replacing Ignition Coils, can I replace just one?

Hi everyone, got a new one for you after changing the middle front ignition coil and turning on the engine white smoke started to come out from the top part the plastic really melted, it was one of those Duralast bought at autozone, I think some of the dielectric grease that I put in the boot got beetween the spring and the spark and cuased a short circuit, but I´m not sure and dont want to plug in the new exchange coil until I hear your suggestions.
Is a 2001 Nissan Maxima SE with 97k miles
Also, should I change them all our just that one? I noticed that the one from autozone is not the same manufacturer from Nissan.

When my coil packs went out i jus brought one at a time due to money purposes so if you have the money some say by all 6 but if not jus buy them as they go out thats what i done and i now have only two more to replace and my car runs fine..jus make sure they have the grey dot on them......

My #4 just went out. I am replacing all of them because I found 6 brand new Nissan ones for $120. I was told by a former Auto Zone manager and After-market specialist that you should NEVER buy after-market coil packs. He said that they WILL fail again and cause further issues. Just a thought...
