Keyless entry brain

Bought my car with 1 key

Looking around it appears that the key fobs have a fcc id number on them that I guess sets them at different frequencies?

Does anyone know if the brain has that number on it so I know what fob to get? Can you tell me where the brain is located on an 01 GXE?

Thanks,

Paul

well what you could do is go on eBay and find a key fob with the FCC ID of KBRASTU15, or something similar

and follow the directions for programming the remote...maybe it'll work

its a shot in the dark, but for 15 bucks shipped for a maxima remote, how could you really loose.

dude, get the keyfob, and have a look at this thread because it has the programming instructions

Yeah that is what I am going to try. Just wanted to know if the brain might have the fcc id number and if it was easy to get to.

When i bought my 02 SE it only came with what looks like a valet key but doesn't even say nissan on it. How could I tell if my car could support keyless entry? Do all 5th gens have it?

Alright i did some snooping around last night and this is what I came up with. I found what the keyless entry box is suppose to look like on the org and started looking.

It is located behind the panel under the steering wheel.

You will need to remove 2 screws from the panel located on the bottom corners of the panel. Then the rest of the panel pops off:

Once you get this off you will be able to see the white box on the side closest to the center console:

You will need to remove the 1 screw that holds this box. You have to access the screw from the front:

Now lift up on the box and pull it out. The fcc id # was located on the back of the box here:

This should be the number you need to match with any fob's you purchase.

This was done on a 01 Max GXE.

Hello guys, I'am new to the forum and it seems that I cannot create a thread so I'm gonna post my question in this thread. Sometimes when I open the door to my car ( 00 Maxima Se with no remote ) the car starts by itself and the engine starts too. I did NOT touch the ignition with my keys, all I did was open my door. This usually happens when I lock my doors twice to turn on the alarm. Did anybody experienced a similar problem?

sounds like an aftermarket remote start. could be shorting out or when you lock the doors twice you are telling that brain to start the car...

Wells I bought my car from a private seller on craigslist and it stated that the car was stock with no aftermarket parts.
