transmission upgrade

Hey everyone; I really don't post much here but have been searching around the forums quite a bit. So I feel my clutch may be going soon and definitely need to start searching for something. So this is what I was thinking of doing. Now I don't have a ton of money to be spending on this and me and my friend can do the install on everything because he has every tool known to man and knows everything about cars.

I was looking into buying an OEM exedy clutch (I know from experience that exedy is very good quality), a Fidanza flywheel and an HLSD unit. No my car did not come with HLSD (for shame!!).

Let me know what you guys think. I am really not in the mood to be spending 400-500 dollars on just the clutch then another 480 on a flyhwheel and another 400 on the HLSD. I can get the clutch at wholesale through my friends TAX ID number, and possibly the HLSD unit at wholesale also through another friend who works at nissan. The only thing I would have to pay full for is the flywheel.

I also don't feel like resurfacing the flywheel because chances are it has heat spots and may be slightly warped. Besides that I want all new parts. I already have about 600 dollars saved up and can use my next 2 weeks pay checks since I have paid all my other bills (car note, insurance, and my 1 credit bill).

Any help would be appreciated but seriously keep any snide comments to yourself.

so what exactly are you posting for? Are you just looking for opinions? If so here is mine...The HLSD is an AWESOME upgrade from the open dif. when I got my 04 internals put in I also got the HLSD put in and I love it. The clutch and flywheel also seem to be very good upgrades. I know somebody that has near that set up (Merlyn) and he seems to like it. The clutch is nice and stiff and you can tell a big difference in the revs from the flywheel. I say go for it!

yes I was just looking for an opinion. I was also just wondering if it is good for an OEM type clutch like the Exedy to be paired with a Fidanza flywheel?

thanks for the input I am most likely going to be doing this and will be sourcing the parts this week. hopefully me and my friend can install these along with my Energy suspension motor mounts and racingline dichromite aurora bearing end links on a sunday afternoon.

The job takes a little but to do but you should be able to do it in a day with no problem. I seriously doubt that the OEM replacement will be an issue. My question is why go with the OE replacement? Why not just do like a stage 1?

money... I may just do a stage 1 and a flywheel. But I also really want to get an HLSD unit. I can always get the HLSD unit another time ya know. I will see how much parts cost and what my money situation is. Stage 1 exedy and a fidanza flywheel is going to run me around 900 dollars. where as an OEM exedy, a fidanza flywheel and an HLSD unit will run me around 1100-1200

oooo I understand. Well think of it like this... if you can just hold off a little longer and buy the stage 1, flywheel and HLSD at once then you don't need to go and pull the trans out again. If you can make the clutch last i would...

thats what I will try and do. Luckily I live close to my job. So I am saving money, selling a couple things I have for extra cash. If I can get the HLSD at wholesale i'll definitely do it. Thanks for the help.
