It still amazes me that people with maximas really go out and street race???!!
to Norm and Magellan......Please dont take my comments as disrespect..I know I could have said what I needed to w/ out calling you grandpa or gramps!!
I was only kiddin..Im not backpeddlin here but I have always shown respect to people that are older than me and basically everyone else for that matter....I totally hear what you guys are sayin, dont get me wrong, I dont really like it when a street race gets up to 80mph and up, but it happens nonetheless...I mean hey at a red light two cars racin off the line, you dont always have to go over 60mph for there to be an absolute winner, that ususally can be determined before the speed limit is even broken...not only that but empty stretches of road, why not? I just wanted to clarify this so I wont end up being thought of as a disrespectful punk a$$

I know that street racing will go on regardless of my posts, and some members are annoyed by my comments. But the story I told of the dead 18 year old is true. And if I could influence just one person to stop here, then maybe another life could be saved.

I'd hoped that some readers would already understand, and you've fulfilled that. Like Magellan, what I still hope for is that somebody who didn't before will (either now or soon) as a result.
As I posted above, I'm not totally immune to getting down on it on occasion, so I understand the reaction to a challenge and the feeling of satisfaction that sometimes results. It's things like 100 mph in a 35 (I happened to see that someplace online quite recently) that's the perfect "horrible example" for which there is no justification. Sometimes the combination of two or more threads can lead to a similar feeling - consider the case of a kill story or "undeserved-ticket-whine" post in one forum written by the same screen name that has asked several mechanical questions in a technical forum (this combination of posts has actually occurred; all I'll say is that it was elsewhere).
