hesitation/slippage when low on gas?

i have this odd hesitation/slippage problem whenever the gas has only 1/4 left or less. if i stomp on the gas or even accelerate quickly, i get this hesitation and some odd slippage from 1-2nd gear.. could it be the fuel pump? tranny? the thing is when i have plenty of gas like 1/2 or more, i dont have this hesitation problem. i could stomp on the gas and the car would go without any problems.

there are no codes, no leaks, and i also used premium gas. if it was the fuel pump, i probably would have the hesitation problem regardless of how much gas is in the car right? however, this problem only occur when i have 1/4 or less gas left. another thing, if i accelerate slowly/normally, there is no hesitation problem. and another thing is it only seems to happen after driving for atleast 20-30 minutes.. any ideas?

my tranny takes more time shifting from 2nd to 3rd than 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th.
