if you searched this wonderful forums, you'd realize that the ebay projectors are garbage...unless you modify them with better projectors. you can just put the 02/03 headlights with HIDS...assuming you have an 00-01.

then again, a good set of bulbs in your stock headlights may suit you just fine.

if you put blue colored halogen bulbs in your headlights, they will be garbage.. they'll look alright from the outside, but the output is next to zero and you won't be able to see a damn thing.. that light that you see coming from luxury cars is called HID lighting... High Intensity Discharge.. it's a completely different type of lighting than halogen.. uses less power, has far better output, and looks cooler too.. you can read all about it on www.hidplanet.com.. or search about it on this forum.. as a matter of fact, there's a really good informative thread on here that compiles alot of info about HIDs that i cant seem to find right now... can anyoine help me out? that one really long @$$ post that explains how HIDs work, and the design of a projector and all that.. and it shows how wide the LS430 projectors are on a mercedes i think...

If you want good lighting without upgrading to factory HIDs, then look into the Osram Silverstars (the European version). They don't look blue but they put out about as much white light as possible for halogens.

I'd refer you to JCwhitney...They've H4 bulbs that performed equal to PIAA Extreme White H4's ($75/pr) for $15-17. They come in halogen, yellow, xenon blue, xenon white etc, and output ranges from 55w/60w to 90w/130w. I still use their 130W H3's in my Hella driving/foglight setup on my 86.5 Hardbody P'up. Man are they bright...for you HID in halogen housing haters these lights are bright enough to burn a spot on the human brain, and they're halogen in halogen housings!!!!!!!

If you going to do it the legal way yes, you will need to retrofit, either projectors in the projector headlights or the 02-03 headlights.

search for a thread called Post your HID retrofit here. All write ups and info are in that thread

since you clearly don't know alot about the subject, i suggest you do ALOT of reaserch, the easiest in my opinion is to drop in the factory HID headlights from the 02-03, but it is still pricey and you have to do some rewiring to get it to work as this is not a plug and play setup. there is a ton of info on this forum, as someone already stated, check out the threads posted by people who already went through this. good luck.

I used a kit from this site for my fogs and it works perfectly had to do a little wiring but nothing major just connected the factory harness to the balast connection nice and easy here is the link they are super cheap and have a lifetime warenty on balasts so no worries plus the balasts are the slim type so they are easy to mount.

Here is a link with pics of my kit it's all the way down in the thread

All the halogens I tried:
1. Piaa Extreme White (closest match)no longer available.
2. Raybrig 85w (close but light output less than the Extreme White)
3. Piaa GTX (they sucked and are overpriced))
4. Jcwhitney 130W xenon white halogens ( bright and white but still yellowish next to the HID)
5.Silverstars ( they suck can't see the light on the ground)
6.Luminincs( they suck just as hard as silverstars)
7. Let's face it halogens will never match HID, even the least HID output!
8.Upgraded Oem HID headlights to 8000K (Xtralights) bulbs.
9.Upgraded Foglights to 8000K HID (Xtralights)
10. NOW THEY MATCH!!!!!!!

Im on a 00

Ok so where would i find the 02-03 lights and they should fit correct?
What re-wiring exactly would i have to do?

sorry this is not my thing but im tryin to learn here guys

i think some 02 HIDs would be good id replace all head and fog lighting with them if possible (with those xtralights things).

Do not cut chassis headlight harness. The H4 sytle bulb consist are 3 wires:
1. Ground
2. Low beam (+)
3.High Beam (+)
Double up the ground on each side, to run the low beam to the HiD and high's to the halogen high beams.
