So... my max got hit

I was at a red light and the person behind me decided not to stop. Long story short im interested in fixing the car with a few friends as a project. Here are some pictures. What parts will I most likely be looking at to fix? I need to know how to take the bumper off and stuff like that. Also I am taking it to a professional to make sure the chassis is still okay and that the frame in the back isnt bent too bad. Btw i posted this in the noob thread too but nobody was really looking it except this one dude, I greatly appreciate his help thus far.

Here are some pics

take off the inside trunk liner, look down in the deep pockets on the sides, the bolts for the bumper are down there.

Installing headers or a pulley is a project. DIY body work is just a pain in the ***.

There looks like there maybe some structural damage....youre going to find out quickly how bad it is when you remove the stuff.

now this guy got two threads about the same thing....creates confusion, thats all.

In his other thread, he said the dude that rearended him didnt want to go through insurance and just handed him cash/check. That was a very bad idea....

IF there is no structural damage then it shouldn't be too hard. How fast was the person going when they hit you?

im not too sure. it took me by surprise. probably 10-15MPH. it was hard enough for my head to slam back into the head rest and my passengers scream...and then laugh at me because i have the worst luck I mean it does look like it is a little messed up back their but im not sure that it would affect how a new bumper would fit on. I have a feeling I could just hang a new bumper and it would cover all the damage, but then again theirs a chance it might not.

take off the bumper and look before you make any assumptions.

you can clearly see that your trunk lid and frame of the trunk are bent, thats not going to be something anyone thats not a skilled craftsman should try and fix...

accidents are almost always worse than they look...

just my advice....

ughh. took it in for the estimate. guy said that their is a good amount of frame damage and it would cost 3,000 to fix just the frame alone. He said i could probably get away with it but if it got hit again the damage will be much more substantial. Now im thinking if I should just sell my baby and buy a new one.

Yeah, I would never try and do the back end of a car myself. If you get the trunk wrong, it will leak and lead to all sorts of problems.
Personally, I would get it fixed, document the work with pictures and then decide if I want to keep it or sell it.

Sounds about right.. You'll most likely need a new reinforcement bar, both L/R stays and the foam insert. That on top of the new bumper, light and trunklid/paint..

Sorry to hear about your car. You really wont know how much damage you have until that bumper cover comes off. I would let insurance take care of it since YOU got rearended.
But, if you decide to fix it yourself, I have rear bumber cover in sterling myst, the styrofoam pad and the aluminium bumper.
I'm in Richmond Virginia, pm me if you interested.

Very cool!!
Not everyday someone makes out on an insurance claim.
So I'm guessing, new wheel/tires and audio are in your future.
