installing 2003 maxima rear view mirror on a 2001
i already have the autodim mirror without the compass but i want the one with the compass so what do i have to do to install it is it just plug and play or do i need to do some modding

hmmm i dont have a answer, but this is a good mod i never thought of. ill have to look in to this too.

Looks like the compass requires no extra wiring (power for both the autodim and the compass are on the same pin), but the connectors appear to be different:

Same wiring as the auto dim. I had the one with the compass on my 00. Make sure you do the ZONE procedure to get a correct reading.
