Need help...any input...
So my car has been doing this this metal on metal tap when i slightly apply the break and when i slightly apply gas. I take it to my main mechanic he cant figure it out, took it to a front end shop. looked at it for 2 hours and they couldnt figure out what it was. So i took it to one of my friends sgt. and he said it could be a strong possibility that its my cv axle, so i went and bought the driver side and the passenger side because when we took it off we found out that the cv's that were up there were wrong and the new one the shafts were longer on them... so i installed both of them..the same exact metal to metal tap...and now im like WTF and no one can figure it out and my last resort is to go to nissan so can anyone give any feedback to what this could possible be... thanks
my only suggestion is dont go to the dealership. it's just my personal opinion but if so many knowledgable people can't figure it out, i doubt nissan will. i donno about the dealerships around you, but the ones around me would just tell me to change this and that so they can earn some quick money off me. i usually would giggle and drive off.
First guess: sway bar bushings.
Second guess: strut mounts.
I've had a NAGGING clank in my front end for months, and I THINK it's the strut mounts...but they are last to go.
Replace the cheapest easiest pieces first, then go after the bigger ones.
Neither are particularly expensive, but i'd try the bushings first....they're cheaper and less work to replace.
you are down to the process of elimination, unfortunately.
Guaranteed the stealer will START with the BIG ticket items FIRST, and work their way backwards...which is why I agree, not to go to the stealer unless you HAVE TO.
good luck - and let us know how it turns out.

is it one tap or thumb or multiple at a single occurance (sp?)? if it is a single thump or tap, it could be the mounts, if its multiple then i would look in the suspension area, make sure the brake pads are sitting in the caliper bracket correctly and are not moving up and down. make sure everything is tight (bolts and nuts). look in the engine bay, maybe when the engine leans forward or back, something touches the belts or pullies and gives you that noise. it could be alot of things, good luck finding it.
don't go to the dealership, they just want your money.
