Extending Rev Limit...Possible?

Does anyone know how to extend the rev limit in a 2k2. Is it possible with the consult tool. I've got an auto and can never hit redline would extend ing the rev limiter help to get the car to shift at higher rpms or is that a TCM thing. I'll be at the stealership tomorow to have my timing advanced so while it's hooked up I might as well get my moneys worth out of it. Basicaly I'm looking to get the ssim working to its full potential. Would this help? Or is there anything else I should have them do while they're at it?

You can control that with a stand alone or piggy back unit usually, but the automatics do like to **** early still

Not with a CONSULT, no.

Get an aftermarket EMS, problem solved.

Of course, if your problem is that it won't shift automatically at redline, then that's purely by design. If you want to wind it all the way out, you'll have to shift up manually.

just don't go past 7,200 on stock internals

7,500 is the limit really, but I wouldn't try hitting the limit every time

unless of course you get ARP bolts and HR equipment, then an even higher rev limit is achievable

You can do it with an Emanage Ultimate, UTEC, or the like. Or an ECM reflash from Technosquare.

i live in Salt lake city which is about an hour and a half from where they hold the world of speed challenge. Anyway, i was going to head out there and try and join the 130+ mph club but i dont really see the point if i am just going to hit 135 at the speed limiter. I dont really see myself doing any extensive moding in the future where i would want to be able to tune it. I just really want the cheapest way to hit top speed for one weekend.

I just had a thought while i was writing this. from videos i have seen on youtube top speed isn't limited by redline in top gear so what if i pull the vehicle speed sensor? Are the rev limiter and speed limiter different systems? i wouldnt know how fast i was going but that is ok because they will be taking care of that. It will be more suspenseful that way too...

If it's like the Silver State Classic, then you'll be required to have a full cage and all safety equipment for any class over about 100 or 110 MPH. The ECU might be the least of your worries.

revlimiter limits the maximum revs of the engine.
speedlimiter limits the top speed.
they are different depends which gear you're in.

Hey, bro. I live in Ogden. Anyone else on here from Utah?

As long as you take off the speed limit with an ECU flash or something then you can push the car in top gear all the way to redline safely, for the engine at least. I'm not sure about the drivetrain and stuff
