Spark plugs change

Hey Guys, I just did my spark plugs change, since i have 58K miles on the ODO, since I noticed a decrease in gas MPG. So i pulled the plugs, noticed how much carbon burnt on my electrode. So I went to Autozone they told me not to get bosch, so I got NGK plugs they work very well, but instead, I ordered from Pulseplugs, I was shocked how much increased in my MPG and HP. It didn't come very cheap either, it was 24 bucks a plug, you should check it out. It worth the money however the downside is that it has to be change every 30k miles. but in the name of gas cost, i would say its worth the effort and money for it. Website is at pulstarplug.com

Even if the Pulseplugs give a small HP gain, at the price and frequency of plug changes (I drive around 25,000 miles a year), it isn't worth it with a 5.5 gen. Too much additional work to change the rear plugs since the intake has to come off. I guess if you drive 10,000 miles a year or so, then it is more cost effective.

I am willing to bet a new set of NGKs platinum or iridium plugs would also have given you a noticable boost in performance if your old plugs were in bad enough shape.

You sure it was the new pulseplugs and not the dirty plugs that were killing your mpg?

wow +2. I thought the $12 per iridium plugs that I changed to were expensive.

Everything is relative to our own evaluations, as long as you feel its worth it that is all that matters.

Do I have to pull my intake off for a VQ30? I haven't looked at the plugs or wires yet

No you won't. All you have to do is remove engine cover (front) to get to the ignition coils to get to the plugs. Come to think of it...you may have to remove the FSTB to get to the rear coils and plugs.

LOLz! All you need is the plugs...and the proper tools to replace them.

How many sparkplugs do we need to replace? Also, I was planning to do the Tune Up service from Pepboys for $80, they told me they were gonna replace the sparkplugs but I'm not sure which brand of sparkplugs they will replace it with. Unless I can DIY this, I think I'll just pay for the service. How hard is it to replace the sparkplug yourself if you have almost no experience? Only thing I did was cleaned out my MAF and that itself took almost 1 hour to learn how to take it off ...

Sorry about the newbie question, but I really had no idea. Is it hard to replace the sparkplugs yourself?

No, but I would search before you get yelled at
Very simple if you know how to place an extension onto the same exact tool you will use on the front 3 plugs...

not difficult but if you haven't done it before there are a few little steps that are important but might be easy to overlook. Search around, there are a few threads out there with good how-to info.

Where did you buy your plugs at? I paid $6.99 per NGK Iridium for my old 626 at Pep Boys.

here is a VERY quick lesson ... in order to find out how many spark plugs you have .. you take the number of cylinders you have, multiply by two, and then subtract by the number of cylinders you have .. its complicated sometimes but i think you can figure it out ..

For my 2000 Maxima, I paid 12 buckaroos @ Napa for the Iridium IX Spark Plug. Do you think its too much? Damn....I overpaid again.

I really like them. It revs quicker, but not sure about the mileage yet. Still under review.

I know...I know...How does that saying go.

1 Mistake: Shame on you
2 Mistake: Shame on me
3 Mistake: I'm an idiot.

I got one more chance before I wear the dunce cap.

You guys may be laughing......but that's not always the case. My parents had an '87 nissan stanza wagon (yes, i know.....the ugliest car ever made) and it had 2 plugs per cylinder. 4 cylinders = 8 spark plugs

So his question has some validity to it.

Man are you serious. you should be banned from the forum after asking such a question like that.

Oh yea and to answer your question you only need 2 plugs because your car is front wheel drive.
