swapping my A.T. tranny with 6th gen?

Hey guys im on an automatic and want to swap out my tranny soon so i mwondering would the 6th gen AT's be the same fitment and specs as a 5th gen 2000 maxi's tranny or should i just play it safe and get a 2k maxi's tranny in there once again?

would i have to have a 6th gen ecu if i swapped?

would i notice any performance increases?

The only 6th gen auto you can use is the 2004 IIRC cause it is still 4sp.

No has swaped a 4sp auto with the 5sp auto due to number of solenoids that need to be controled, it has been brought a couple of times and I think someone was close I can't remember. But you can buy any 2000-2003 maxima auto tranny and they swap in and out just fine.

And from your other posts it sounds like you want to start modding your max. So if you want more play with your auto you can either swap for a 5sp(about $1,500-$2000) or get a suprastick for your auto and you can play with your gearings that way ($325 I can't remember). Just an FYI

in a 02 to 6spd yes not 00-01 because they come with 3.0 but its possible if you fabricate the mounts and all its a process but 02-and up its 3.5 so u can definitely 6spd that max

1.5k-2k parts

1k in laborish

and to the 6sp to 3.0, it can be done, all the vq trannies line up and 02-03 parts can be used in the 00-01.

you don't need a garage you can do it with hand tools in the street in a day or so. weekend easy.

just saying...

for about 2k you could get the 6spd tranny, lightweight flywheel, fancy clutch, and fancy motor mounts. and start running nice and low 14's.

i'm planning on doing it next spring. i was going to go turbo but i'll rip my tranny apart in 2 seconds with 400+ whp.

i say go for it.
autos are so...boring. i wish i never bought it.
