Did you hear loud 'click' from starter relay in the engine bay? If so you have not many starts left before towing. I wasn't so lucky, mine stopped starting at once without warnings.

CEL?

Cam sensor?

edit: My bad. I re-read and I think I misunderstood the first time. Was the starter cranking for 20 seconds and then car started or not cranking at all while holding the key for 20 seconds? If you had no cranking then I would say your starter is going like others have said. If it was cranking and not starting it could be a cam sensor. I had that happen to me.

Yea I agree with STYLE check your battery first. Sounds exactly how it started with mine, but a hot battery did the trick.

Be safer than sorry. Last time I had a starter do this and said, "Oh it starts now I'll wait until it completely fails" left me changing the starter in a gutter during a rainstorm with the water rising to close to me chest before I got the starter in. Worst thing was walking into a local business soaked head to toe in gutter water to call AAA because my old starter drained the battery before locking up again.

Change the starter.
